Can you help?

If you have a hotel/ B&B/ cottage etc in the Alston area and would like to put our epaicum family trail leaflet in one of your bedroom browsers then please let me know and I can drop off or you can collect!

It’s a great family activity on the Moor and suitable for children aged 7 upwards – and there are toy swords and shields available for use whilst marching across the fort for younger children!

DIAMOND EPIACUM CELEBRATES 60 YEARS

In 1957, a small but significant excavation took place at Epiacum , then known as Whitley Castle. This year, 2017, marks our “Diamond Jubilee” and an opportunity to celebrate and share the impact of the ongoing research that has taken place, and latterly, the developing profile of the site and it’s environs.

On Saturday May 20, we will be holding a very special Day Conference in Alston, with a range of speakers, including our President of the Friends for Epiacum , Prof. Stewart Ainsworth (Time Team/ Landscape Archaeologist and lead researcher for the Farmer & Miner Landscape Research Project – 2009- 2012)

We hope you will join us to learn more about this fascinating heritage landscape and the developments that have taken place over the last 60 years, and those that are still happening!
More details are to follow but bookings can be taken immediately and we will keep you updated.
